Planning & Development

The Museum has an eye on new trends such as globalization and information technology.  Nowadays, rugby and the All Blacks are known all over the world, and the sport is consolidating for New Zealand’s Culture, and also favours the near-to-home syndrome, catering for the future domestic and international demands of rugby fans around the world.

Planning and Development for sustainable tourism in Mt Eden region is benefited by its favourable accessibility - it is next to Kingsland train station - and is a route for buses from the city centre.  But many All Blacks fans prefer to walk 30 minutes from the CBD as observed last year during the RWC, thus impacting the transit rote region as well as Kingsland Village, which is also close to Eden Park and is also economically impacted by the events held at Eden Park.

The All Blacks Museum’s visitors will experience the public transport service via regular bases as part of the hospitality environment and expect a good quality of service. The Trust's long-term vision for Eden Park is to develop a world-class stadium that provides a legacy to both neighbors and patrons.

The museum will create a relationship with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), monitoring positive and negative effects, temporary or permanent, direct or indirect and finally cumulative effects to determine whether obligations are being met to manage the balance between preservation and use of the environment, such as crowding, conflicts of activities, displacement, noise pollution, safety control and vandalism.  The Museum also proposes to be part of the Eden Park Advisory Group and, the purpose of this Group is to provide a forum for communication between Auckland City officers, the Eden Albert Community Board, the Eden Park Trust Board and key stakeholders adjacent to Eden Park regarding ongoing development of the Park and its integration with the surrounding area.

Eden Park is located within Auckland Council's jurisdiction. The Council currently has a concept plan in place for Eden Park, which sets out a framework for the activities and developments that are allowed to take place on the site. The Council also manages all regulatory activity at the Park including resource and building consent applications.

The mission and organizational vision is to create an “All Blacks Home” which will be shared by all stakeholders, including local communities, customers, the media, government agencies and administrators, financial intermediaries, suppliers, activist groups and competitors facilitating the stakeholders approach strategy.

The new Museum will consist of New Zealand’s rugby history - wax figures of former and current New Zealand Rugby players, as well as rugby legends from around the world. The reason for developing this product is to bring in more revenue to New Zealand and the Mt Eden area through attracting more tourists.

The sport culture in New Zealand plays the function of both entertainment and education. The All Blacks museum can enhance the communication between stakeholders. As well as, it is good for Auckland tourism industry development as well.
